Just weeks after he and two other officers shot and killed Erik Scott outside a Summerlin Costco store last year, Las Vegas police officer Thomas Mendiola knowingly gave a handgun to a two-time felon, prosecutors have alleged. The charge cast further suspicion on what already was a controversial shooting. Mendiola, no longer a police officer, awaits trial.
