Peter Hunt Kirwan is a Superior Court of Santa Clara County in California Judge. Appointed by governor Arnold Schwarzenegger in 2006, filling a vacancy by the retirement of Judge Thomas P. Hansen.

Judge Peter Kirwan earned a B.A. in political science from US California, Berkeley 1982. He completed a J.D. from Santa Clara University School of Law 1986.

Judge Peter Kirwan began a legal career in 1986 when he worked as an associate at Hoge, Fenton, Jones & Appel. He spent 15 years there, specialized in civil litigation, eventually becoming a partner 1994.  In 2001, he left the firm and for Needham, Davis, Kirwan & Young where he worked till his appointment to the bench in 2006.

Judge Peter Kirwan taught Mediation Theory and Practice at Santa Clara University School of Law.

Kirwan is a Republican.
